I have just arrived home from what was a pretty spectacular vacation, and in about 64 days I will be one another. That's right people I will be back in the Maritimes in 64 days and I cannot wait! This vacation unlike the one I was just on I am planning from start to finish. Michael and I kind of unofficially decided that we would plan our trips home ourselves because we know where we are from best and having a tour guide who grew up where you are vacationing is an obvious bonus! I have a few trick up my sleeves but nothing nearly as awesome as you are about to see. This vacation blog will probably be a series.... because we have hundreds of pictures between us and so many stories to share.
First I will start off with before leaving for Whitehorse I never considered it a real vacation destination. I had friends go last summer and I couldn't fathom why they would even spend money and go there.... Well i learned very quickly that it is a very beautiful mini city, with it's own special pace and so much charm, but I will get to that.
My vacation started at 3 am when I left for the Edmonton Air Port with about 45 minutes sleep under my belt... It was just me and the wolves on the highway at that hour, so good music and strong coffee were my friend. After checking in and going through security I learned that Starbucks Baristas are not on their A game at 5 am and decided to wait until Vancouver to caffeinate.... and what a way to caffeinate it was!
Venti Cinnamon Dolce Latte
And a Mountain View
Plus the woman in front of me in line thought I was going off to university for the first time.... how cute and crazy are people in Vancouver??? But thank you crazy lady
After an entertaining 3 hour stop over in Vancouver, I flew north and over the mountains to Whitehorse.
Upon arrival I was greeted by Michael and the most beautiful lilies... but the lilies were just a bonus feature I was just happy to be back with Michael enjoying what I was expecting to be a regular veggie pizza Friday. But I was a little off on what to expect Veggie Pizza (Check) quiet evening.... not so much. We had my first surprise waiting for us... Frantic Follies, an old time Saloon stage show that takes you back to the gold rush through the verse or Robert Service. I LOVED IT! Even though I was watching the dancers feet for correct turn out and such ;)
And that was my first day in Whitehorse...
Check back in a few days for more tales from my northern vacation!
Cheers!
