Craft time!!!

I spent the better part of... actually my ENTIRE weekend making these super cute eggs and reading the Hunger Games. Thanks to the lovely A I too have jumped full force onto the band wagon and will be talking about what  liked and did not like from the books and movies in an upcoming post. Now I know this isn't an entertainment blog (although I do consider some of my antics slightly amusing) I do from time to time feel the need to write down how much I love a particular book or movie or in this case "mook".  So that is something that you can either look forward to or dread but it is coming none the less.

Anyway I decided to  bog about my easter eggs for the girls at work. It all started when I noticed these project on Pinterest.  Then lead to me making a ton of these eggs filled with mini eggs! So here they are folks. I better description of how to make them here: http://www.notmartha.org/archives/2010/04/01/easter-surprise-eggs-the-easy-version/

To start use large or extra large eggs.

Create an opening in the bottom to release the yolks and whites. The link above shows the best way (I just tapped a large opening about the size of a quarter in the bottom)

After rinsing I placed them in a pot of cool water brought them to a boil and allowed them to simmer for 10 minutes:

While the eggs boiled I prepared a place for the eggs to drip dry. She suggested chop sticks stuck in a foam I didn't have that so I used knives and spoons propped in glasses... I'm in a small town where the closest craft store is over an hour away I do what I have to do to get the job done:

Then I mixed the food colouring:

Once the Eggs were dry they were put in the colouring for about 10 minutes (lighter colours were 15 minutes)

Once the 10-15 minutes were up the eggs hung to dry over night

For safekeeping I placed them back into their egg cartons until I filled them with mini eggs and other easter goodies.

Once filled I glued Easter Grass  into muffin cups and then the eggs (opening down) on top of the grass.

Hope you liked my little project! If this works out well with the adults I am going to make them for the kiddies as well!

Cheers!

Happy Spring ALBERTA!!!

Before I moved out west, whenever I thought of Alberta winters I thought I of moments like this:

But instead I got this...

And for a girl who is used to winters that look like this...

Both of the aforementioned scenarios are beyond depressing!!!! But then yesterday on the last day of winter finally I finally bore witness to a normal (for me) winter.

Click here to see the Weather Network's take on my day yesterday (tapped in town): http://www.theweathernetwork.com/news/storm_watch_stories3&stormfile=Wintery_weather_continues_in_Alberta_and_Saskatchewan_18_03_2012

Dating a Legal Aide Lawyer is Like Dating a Guitarist From a Christian Rock Band...

Where to begin, where to begin.... Well I guess I'll start off by saying "Karrie my darling this one's for you!"

I have been dropping little silly hints for about the last seven weeks about things starting to stir in my life... in a good way an AMAZING way ;) It all started at the West Edmonton Mall, when I met a guy who took me for a regular, old school, mini golf and arcade date. What was supposed to be a couple hours of getting to know you turned into 7 hours of wandering, getting my butt kicked at every game known to man and me assaulting him (not as juicy as it sounds). This turned into a second date that went a whole lot awry when I took him on an adventure to exchange a minivan for an SUV, blowing his crazy thoughtful plans of taking me to the science museum. But we totally made up for it with dinner and a movie.

Then came Valentine's day weekend... Sunset picnic after a chilly snowy walk, Movie theater and private screening for two, Greek Food and Pizza (because I mentioned I could kill for some a week earlier), 2 sets of flowers (one for my home and one for my office), Red River Cereal for breakfast (best surprise ever) and just a touch of real life like 2 shots of band practice and 1 shot of lazer tag and video games.  I have not laughed so much or had so much fun in a very long time and that I think is the most important part of this story.

Now a little about him ('cause I'm sure you are just aching to know!). He is caring, thoughtful, funny, from a large family and as I told my beautiful A a "Huge Catholic". As a BC boy he loves the mountains the way I love the ocean and has some mad skills on the slopes. Surprises are the specialty he admits to having but he's also a very talented musician (so I guess he's the Guitarist and not the Lawyer) who shares his passion and faith through music ministry and worship leadership regularly. He makes me laugh more than anything else, and that was the promise I made myself months ago "I want to laugh more days of my life than not" so I have to say he is a very good man.

There are so many stories to tell and so much more to share but like I was told recently my life is like a mini series and like any good series you can't tell the whole story in one shot. There will be more to share in the coming weeks and I just want my followers and lovelies back home to know I am very happy, and so looking forward to what my life adventure has in store.

Cheers!
